Ground Straps
Grounding and bonding is one of the most important subjects in the National Electrical Code. It is necessary for the safety of personnel as well as proper operation of circuit protective devices. The path to ground from circuits, equipment and metal enclosures must have the capacity to conduct safely when fault currents are encountered. These braided straps also eliminate, or reduce ground loop induced noise and / or electrostatic discharge. Braid has a greater ampacity rating for a given cross-sectional area due to the tight weave of its many strands along with better heat dissapation as compared to flat bus-bar or other conductors. Braid also provides an excellent low resistance path to ground. This style of grounding device may also be used to compensate for linear expansion, contraction, lateral motion, and vibration between equipment. |
